This week at Pop CoLab, we tried something new with a group of engineers — they took a personality test together to discover the collective personality of their company. Honestly, we weren’t quite sure how it would turn out, and we had a bit of anxiety going into it. But in true Pop CoLab style, we made it a fun experience for everyone! We handed out “medals” for categories like "Best Under Pressure," "Most Calm," "Most Stressed," and more — you get the idea!
But how about you? Have you ever taken a personality test yourself?
You probably found some results that were both surprising and incredibly accurate. As we strive for greater diversity in the workplace, focusing on your strengths becomes far more valuable than dwelling on weaknesses—something that resonates with many successful individuals. I had the pleasure of meeting Ben Dueck, President of Cantera Leadership, who introduced me to the CliftonStrengths assessment. If you're curious to learn more, Ben is a great person to reach out to.
While my results weren't entirely unexpected, gaining a deeper understanding of my strengths has been a tremendous asset. Over the next month, I’d love to share my top strengths with you, the first being: Ideation.
Ideation is part of the Strategic Thinking themes. If you have this strength, you’re captivated by ideas and excel at finding connections between seemingly unrelated concepts. This ability to link diverse thoughts can drive innovation and creative problem-solving, making it an invaluable asset in any environment.
You Contribute Something Unique: |
Your Ideation looks different than anyone else's. It's influenced by the other themes that sit in your Top 5. As you read your custom description for this strength in your report, highlight or make note of the words, phrases or lines that best describe you. |
What Gives You an Edge Over Others? |
You are fascinated by ideas. Because you enjoy looking at the world from different perspectives and are always searching for connections, you are a powerful and creative brainstorming partner. |
Action Item: |
Yours is the kind of mind that bores quickly, so make small changes in your work or home life. Experiment. Play mental games with yourself. All of these will help keep you stimulated. |
The Advantage: |
You are creative and can generate ideas around nearly any topic. Your ideas can become plans for addressing inefficiencies, creating new processes or developing inspirational team goals. |
What to Watch for: |
Sometimes the sheer multiplicity of the ideas you generate can be overwhelming — both to you and to others. It might help you and those you work with if you create a system and process for prioritizing the value of your many ideas. |
How You Can Thrive: Refine your creativity to inspire and energize yourself and others. |
Don't know if i'm gonna be able to do that
Understanding your strengths through tools like CliftonStrengths can empower you to harness them more effectively, leading to greater personal and professional growth.
